ECI announced election dates for Maharashtra and Haryana

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that the schedule for elections in Maharashtra and Haryana will take place on 21 October 2019 and counting for both the states will happen on 24 October.



The announcement was made by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora.
The model code of conduct (MCC) has come into effect immediately with the announcement of the schedule. MCC provides a level playing field in elections.

Election Notification:

The term of the Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9 and the term of Haryana assembly will expire on 2 November. The election in the states will be held in a single phase. EC announced that the date of notification is on 27 September. The last date of nomination will be 4 October and scrutiny will take place on 5 October. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is 7 October.
