1. Central Government Reconstitutes Eight Key Cabinet Committees


Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government has reconstituted eight key cabinet committees, including appointments committee, the cabinet committee on economic affairs, and security, among others. The eight committees which have been reconstituted include - Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Security, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.

2. Health ministry chaired the meeting to review the status of the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP)


The Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, today chaired a high-level meeting to review the status of the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program (RNTCP) in New Delhi. During the meeting, Dr. Vardhan directed the officials for taking up the elimination of TB on a Mission Mode, which would include all stakeholders to come together for an aggressive strategy for TB free India by 2025.

3. Agreement between India and Marshall Islands for Exchange of Information notified


The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands for the Exchange of Information with respect to taxes (India – Marshall Islands TIEA) was signed on 18thMarch, 2016 at Majuro, the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The India-Marshall Islands TIEA has been notified in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) on 21st May 2019.

4. Mumbai ranked most congested city in the world, Delhi ranked 4th: Traffic Index 2018


Traffic flow in Mumbai is the worst in the world while Delhi is close behind at fourth position, according to a new report detailing the traffic situation in 56 countries. In the financial capital of India, a journey during rush-hour takes 65 percent longer. In Delhi, it is 58 percent longer, the report prepared by location technology specialist TomTom, which also supplies maps for Apple and Uber.

5. Second Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Of RBI 2019-20


For the third time in a row, the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) today cut interest rates by 25 basis points, as was widely expected. At the end of a three-day MPC meeting, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced its second bi-monthly monetary policy statement for 2019-20. In a unanimous decision, the MPC also decided to change the stance of monetary policy from neutral to accommodative.

6. RBI Releases Report On Benchmarking India’s Payment Systems


India is a "leader" in regulating costs of payments systems, number of debit cards issued and automated teller machines, and oversight by the Central bank, it said. ... The report comes following an announcement in the April monetary policy review, which spoke about the need to benchmark India's payments systems

7. RBI removed charges for RTGS and NEFT transactions


RBI has removed charges for NEFT, RTGS payments. It has asked banks to pass on benefits to customers. RTGS is used for transferring high-value amounts. The minimum amount that can be currently transferred is Rs 2 lakh. This move will benefit the small traders who deal in small value transactions and operates on small margins. NEFT is a payment system facilitating funds transfers from one bank account to another.

8. CII Unveiled New Index To Measure Fiscal Performance


Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched a Fiscal Performance Index (FPI) to assess state and central budgets. The Index incorporates qualitative assessments of revenue expenditure, capital expenditure, revenues, fiscal prudence and the level of public debt arrive at a more holistic picture of fiscal performance than the fiscal deficit to GDP ratio according to the CII. 

9. Delhi Metro is India’s first project to receive power from waste-to-energy


Delhi Metro has started receiving 2 MW power from a 12 MW capacity waste-to-energy plant set up in Ghazipur. The plant will mitigate over 8 million tons of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) over the life of the project.

10. Indian Navy successfully conducted ‘live mating’ of submarine rescue system DSRV


In boost to India's underwater capabilities, the Indian Navy announced on Wednesday that one of its new deep-submergence rescue vehicles (DSRVs) had successfully conducted a 'live mating' exercise with a submarine. DSRVs are small submarines that are specially designed to dive to greater depths than most military submarines and rescue stranded crews in the event of an emergency.

11. Indian junior women Hockey team clinched Cantor Fitzgerald U21 by beating Ireland


The Indian junior women's hockey team clinched the Cantor Fitzgerald U21 International 4-Nations title after beating Ireland 1-0 in the final at Dublin, Ireland yesterday. The win meant India ended the tournament with an unblemished record.
