1. Draft National Education Policy 2019 Submitted By Dr. Kasturirangan Committee

The Committee led by the Chairman Dr. Kasturirangan submitted the Draft National Educational Policy to the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and Minister of State for HRD, Shri Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre in New Delhi today in the presence of Shri R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary Department of Higher Education and Smt. Rina Ray, Secretary Department of School Education & Literacy and other senior officials of the Ministry.

2. MoHFW organized a National Workshop for Population Research Centers

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is organizing a two-day orientation workshop for Population Research Centres (PRCs) to highlight the various features of the flagship schemes of the Health Ministry for concurrent monitoring. Inaugurating the national workshop today at New Delhi, Ms. Preeti Sudan, Secretary (HFW) stated there is an urgent need for PRCs to reinvent themselves to become more relevant. She further stated that PRCs should integrate with the institute they are anchored in for more thoughtful insights of local and current issues to enrich their research. At the event, Ms. Preeti Sudan also released the Rural Health Statistics (2017-18) and a Compendium of Studies Conducted by the PRCS (2017-18).

3. Kharga Prahar exercise concluded in Punjab

A major training exercise conducted by the Indian Army in Punjab ended Tuesday, an official statement said. The exercise "Kharga Prahar", which began on May 27, was undertaken in the plains of Punjab by various units and formations of Army's Kharga Corps. "Validation of latest operational concepts designed to deliver a swift punitive blow to the adversary were the key features of this exercise," a defense release said here Tuesday.

The 6th round of India-China Bilateral Dialogue on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation was held in New Delhi. External Affairs Ministry said in a release that the two sides exchanged views on a variety of issues of mutual interest related to disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control. They decided to continue the dialogue at regular intervals in the future. The Indian delegation was led by Additional Secretary, Disarmament and International Security Affairs, Indra Mani Pandey.

5. Fee for SC/ST candidates joining vocational training waived off

Fee for SC/ST candidates, who join vocational training under Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSS), operating under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has been waived off. This was decided in the first review meeting held by Union Minister for Skill Development and EntrepreneurshipDr. Mahendra Nath Pandey with senior officials of the Ministry here today.

In a significant move to increase surveillance of those seeking to enter the United States, Washington will require most individuals applying for visas to provide details of their social media handles going back five years. The rule is expected to affect close to 15 million people annually. Online visa forms that require social media account history became operational at the end of last week and will cover all applicants except those applying for certain official and diplomatic visas.

The central government, Tamil Nadu and the World Bank have signed a $287 million loan agreement for the state's Health System Reform Programme that aims to improve the quality of health care, reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and fill equity gaps in reproductive and child health services.

8. ICICI Bank launches center in Bengaluru exclusive for MSME

ICICI Bank Ltd. announced the launch of a new working capital facility that enables MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) to get an overdraft (OD) based on the turnover reported in their Good and Services Tax (GST) returns. Christened ‘GST Business Loan’, the facility is available to any MSME including non-customers of ICICI Bank, up to Rs 1 crore. This facility brings in the improved convenience of availing quick OD facility, as it does away with the requirement of paper-intensive assessment of financial documents including balance sheets of previous years.

9. World Bank Cuts Global Growth Forecast For 2019 To 2.6% And It Retains India’s FY19 Growth Forecast At 7.5%

World Bank says the growth rate will stay at this pace through the next two years as well. The contribution of exports to economic activity is expected to remain weak with moderate global trade growth. The World Bank has retained its forecast of India's growth rate at 7.5% for the current financial year. In its Global Economic Prospects report, the World Bank also said growth rate is expected to remain the same for the next two fiscals.

10. FDI In Services Sector Rose By 36.5% In 2018-19

Foreign direct investment in the services sector grew 36.5 percent to USD 9.15 billion in 2018-19, according to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The sector attracted FDI worth USD 6.7 billion in 2017-18. The services sector includes finance, banking, insurance, outsourcing, R&D, courier, tech testing and analysis.

11. As Per The GFI Study, India Lost $13 Billion In Revenue Collections Due To Trade Misinvoicing

Potential tax revenue losses to the Indian government due to trade misinvoicing are estimated at 13 billion dollars in 2016, according to a study by think-tank Global Financial Integrity (GFI). This is 5.5 percent of total revenue collections that year, said the study released on Monday (local time). Using a trade gap analysis, GFI was able to break down the estimated potential tax revenue losses to misinvoicing by measuring illicit financial inflows and outflows for both import and export under- and over-invoicing.

12. Supersonic cruise missile BrahMos test-fired at Chandipur in Odisha

Supersonic cruise missile BrahMos on Tuesday was test fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha. The anti-ship version of the missile was launched around noon from the launch complex-3 of the ITR, Defence Research and Development (DRDO) sources said.
