A high-level committee formed by the government has proposed setting up of a National Digital Health Mission. The report of the committee entitled 'National Digital Health Blueprint' was released by Health Minister Dr Harshavardhan in New Delhi today. Both the Centre and state governments will be the owners and stakeholders in the new organisation. A combination of GST-N and UIDAI models of the institutional structure has been proposed. The proposal has been put in the public domain for suggestions from all stakeholders, including common people.

The centre, expected to have an elephant museum, mahout training centre, super-specialty hospital, a retirement home and crematorium for the animals, will house orphaned, injured and older elephants. It is being planned on the lines of the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka. The Kerala government is working to set up the country’s first elephant rehabilitation centre in Kottoor, an ecotourism village near the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. The first phase of the Rs 105 crore-project was launched last month by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
4. The city of Fuzhou (China) will host the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee in 2020
During this year’s session, the World Heritage Committee inscribed a total of 29 new sites on the World Heritage List (one in Africa, two in the Arab States, ten in the Asia Pacific region, 15 in Europe and North America and one in Latin America). The Committee approved the removal from the List of World Heritage in Danger of the sites of Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works (Chile) and Birthplace of Jesus: the Church of the Nativity and Pilgrimage Route, Bethlehem (Palestine). One property has been added to the List of World Heritage in Danger: the Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California (Mexico).
5. Indian ship sails for Narayanganj in Bangladesh carrying cargo from Bhutan
Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya Friday flagged off a vessel, carrying stone from Bhutan to deliver in Bangladesh, using Indian waterway channel, as per an official release. This is the first time an Indian waterway is being used as a channel for transport of cargo between two countries, using India for transit, the release said. Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge) and Chemical and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya digitally flag off an inland waterways vessel carrying stone from Bhutan to Bangladesh via River Brahmaputra (NW 2), the shipping ministry said in the release.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree from Melbourne-based La Trobe University for his contributions and efforts towards underprivileged children, women's empowerment through Meer Foundation and his achievements in the Indian entertainment industry. Khan, who will be visiting Australia to attend the 10th edition of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) next month as its chief guest, said having his humanitarian endeavours recognised for the first time by the country was a great honour.

Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra was on July 15 appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, replacing Acharya Devvrat, who has been transferred and appointed as the Governor of Gujarat. A Rashtrapati Bhavan press communique said the appointments of Mr. Mishra and Mr. Devvrat will come into effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices. Mr. Mishra (78) had resigned from the Narendra Modi-led government as Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 2017 after he crossed the age of 75, the BJP’s unofficial age limit for holding an elected post.

The launch of India’s second moon mission, Chandrayaan-2, was called off on Monday, after Indian Space Research Orgamisation (Isro) identified a technical snag in the country's heaviest rocket, GSLV Mk-III, nicknamed Baahubali. While the last-minute call-off by Isro spurred discussions on the GSLV's capability, considering that this will be the launch vehicle for India's Human Space Programme, it is important to note that Chandrayaan-2 is not a failed launch. The launch was delayed in order to avoid failure, and that such things are common globally, say experts.

The 24-year-old Anas clocked 45.21 as he won an easy race, finishing nearly one second ahead of silver winner Omelko Rafal (46.19) of Poland.
