1. Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched ‘LaQshya’(Labour room Quality Improvement Initiative)

Government of India has launched “LaQshya” (Labour room Quality improvement Initiative) to improve quality of care in labour room and maternity operation theatres in public health facilities. 2. Meghalaya is the first state in India to ensure water conservation

Meghalaya recently became the first Indian state to ensure water conservation, having its own water conservation policy. The move came after the Meghalaya State Cabinet chaired by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on July 13, 2019 approved the draft State Water Policy. The policy will be implemented through the active participation of the community. The state will constitute a 'Water Sanitation Village Council' at the village level for smooth implementation of the policy.

3. 19th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting for the year 2019 held in London, UK

The pitch was made by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar at the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers meet in London on July 10-11. India has called for fast-tracking of the process of re-admission of Maldives to the Commonwealth. Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih requested re-admission to the Commonwealth in December 2018. Maldives must demonstrate that it complies with the fundamental values set out in the Commonwealth Charter through an assessment by the secretary-general to rejoin Commonwealth. Jaishankar, visited London, United Kingdom on 9-11 July to participate in the 19th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM) hosted by the UK in its capacity as Chair-in-Office and hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from UK and some other Commonwealth member countries.

4. AIIB provides $100 million to L&T Finance arm for wind and solar infrastructure projects

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has provided a $100-million loan to L&T Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (LTIF), a subsidiary of L&T Finance Holdings Ltd and and a leading non-bank financier of renewable energy in India. 5. Agri-Business Incubation Centre started at Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Agri Business Incubation Centre is set up under the National Agriculture Development Scheme- RAFTAAR.  The objective of the scheme is to make farming a remunerative economic activity by strengthening farmer’s effort, risk mitigation and promoting agribusiness entrepreneurship. Under the scheme, guidance, technology and infrastructure will be provided to youth and entrepreneurs for start-ups in different areas of agriculture.

Padma Shri awardee P Raghu Ram received an honorary fellowship of Thailand's Royal College of Surgeons for his work boosting breast healthcare and promoting the highest standards of surgical education in India. 7. Accenture appoints Julie Sweet as new CEO; David Rowland as Executive Chairman

Accenture's board of directors announced Julie Sweet as CEO effective September 1st, 2019 onwards. Prior to this, she has been Accenture's general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer. Sweet is currently chief executive officer of Accenture’s business in North America, which is the company’s largest market with revenues of about $18 billion for fiscal 2018. Prior to that, Sweet was Accenture’s general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer and has been a member of Accenture’s senior leadership team for nearly a decade.

8. FanMojo Appoints Prithvi Shaw As It’s Brand Ambassador

Fanmojo, a fantasy sports platform owned by mobile tech company U2opia Global, has roped in Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw as its brand ambassador. FanMojo aims to strengthen its outreach to the legions of Indian cricket fans in the country with the association.  Shaw, the right-hand batsman from Mumbai and former captain of Under-19 cricket team, is considered young prodigy and often touted as India’s next Sachin Tendulkar. As part of his deal, Shaw will echo FanMojo’s brand ethos — ‘Kaabil Jo, Khiladi Wo’ – to encourage fantasy sports enthusiasts to come on the platform and win rewards.

9. Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Punjab Cabinet Minister

"Today I have sent my resignation to the Chief Minister Punjab, has been delivered at his official residence," Sidhu wrote on Twitter. Tongress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been at loggerheads with Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and was stripped off key portfolios in the cabinet reshuffle in June, has resigned from the state cabinet. The 55-year-old Sidhu sent his resignation to the Punjab CM on Monday. "Today I have sent my resignation to the Chief Minister Punjab, has been delivered at his official residence," Sidhu wrote on Twitter.

10. Russia Successfully Launched Spektr-RG, a powerful X-Ray Observatory, into Space

A Russian and European all-sky-survey satellite is safely in space following a successful launch on a Proton rocket in Saturday (July 13). The Spektrum-Röntgen-Gamma mission, also known as Spektr-RG, is a joint project between the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, and the German space agency, DLR. Spektr-RG launched to space from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 8:31 a.m. EDT (1231 GMT, or 5:31 p.m. local time). Saturday's launch followed weeks of delays. An attempt to launch the Spektr-RG mission on June 21 was delayed by a battery drain on the Proton rocket's Block DM upper stage, according to Spaceflight Now.

11. Sathiyan and Amalraj  pair Wins Bronze to Get India’s First Medal at  Australian Open

The Indian pair of G. Sathiyan and Anthony Amalraj ended their World Tour Platinum Australian Open with a bronze medal in the men’s doubles competition on Friday. They went down 12-14, 9-11, 8-11 to the top-seeded Korean pair of Jeoung Youngsik and Lee Sangsu in the semifinals. This was the first ever medal for India in the Australian Open. The top Korean pair could not be pinned down despite being stretched in the first game. But credit must be given to the Indians who fought really well before going down.

12. Amir Khan won the WBC International Welterweight Title in the Super Boxing League 2019

Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan clinched the WBC international welterweight title after knocking out Australian Billy Dib in the fourth round of his bout in the inaugural Super Boxing League here. Khan was undoubtedly the stronger of the two as he landed a combination of punches right from the start, leaving his opponent on the floor with a left hook in the second round. In the fourth round a double left hook again left Billy shaken, throwing in the towel to end the contest at King Abdullah Sports City.
