1. Parliament passed Aadhaar Amendment Bill which allows voluntary use of Aadhaar as proof of identity

The law ensures that no one is denied any service for not having Aadhaar as ID proof. An Aadhaar holder can now opt for offline verification through QR code with consent. The Rajya Sabha on Monday passed The Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019, allowing voluntary linking of the 12-digit identification number as part of know your customer guidelines to open bank accounts or get a mobile connection.

2. MoFCC launches Immunocontraception Project

Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) launched a project for undertaking ‘immunocontraceptive measures’. It is used for population management of 4 species of wild animals namely Elephant, Wild boar, Monkeys and Blue Bull (Nilgai). Human-elephant caused the maximum number of casualties. Between 2014 and March 2019, around 2,398 people died in an elephant attack in the country. West Bengal has a maximum number of such deaths.

3. Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express to be first train operated by private players

The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express was announced in 2016 but was introduced in the new time table released recently. The train, one of the most-awaited trains on the route, is currently parked at the Annandnagar railway station in Uttar Pradesh.

4. Two new heavy-lift Chinook helicopters for IAF arrived at the Mundra port, Gujarat

American aerospace major Boeing Monday announced the arrival of two new heavy-lift Chinook helicopters for the Indian Air Force at the Mundra port in Gujarat. The Indian Air Force has ordered 15 Chinooks and the first four helicopters arrived in February. The IAF had placed the order in 2015 along with 22 Apache attack helicopters. "Two new CH-47F (I) Chinooks for the @IAF_MCC squadron arrive at the Indian shores. The advanced multi-mission helicopter will provide the Indian armed forces unmatched strategic airlift capability," Boeing India tweeted.

5. RBI’s Central Board of Directors’ 577th  meeting held in New Delhi

The 577th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India was held at New Delhi today. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance, addressed the Directors of the Central Board. The Hon’ble Finance Minister in her address outlined the thinking behind the Union Budget 2019 and the focus areas of the Government. The Finance Minister also highlighted the importance of coordination between the RBI and Government. Complimenting the Finance Minister on the Budget, the Board Members made various suggestions for the consideration of the Government.

6. Under ‘Operation Milap’, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has rescued 333 children in 7 months

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has rescued 333 children from the Capital. These children were missing since January 2019 from various parts of the country and found in the Capital, the police said. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Rajiv Ranjan said that they have also tracked down 57 people, including 14 minors, who were kidnapped, abducted, or went missing from various areas in the national capital.  “Of these, 14 are minors, 37 are females. Most of these children have been rescued from bus stands, railway stations and other crowded places in the city.

7. Sharjah issues its first Golden card visa to an Indian Lalu Samuel, Chairman of Kingston Holdings

The golden card visa was issued to Lalu Samuel, Chairman and Managing Director of Kingston Holdings. The card-holders are entitled to a host of privileges including a residency visa without a sponsor to them and their families (spouse and children). Sharjah's first Golden Card visa was issued to an Indian expat businessman, as part of the permanent residency system tailored for investors.

8. INS Tarkash reached Tangier in Morocco as part of a visit for overseas development programme

To establish India's credentials as a net security provider in the Indo-Pacific region, Indian Naval Ship Tarkash reached Tangier in Morocco on Monday for a three-day visit. It is part of an ongoing overseas deployment by the Indian Navy to the Mediterranean Sea, Africa and Europe. It will now strengthen the friendship between India and Morocco. The ship would also take part in numerous professional, social and sporting interactions planned with the Royal Moroccan Navy.

9. RBI board has finalized a three- year roadmap ‘Utkarsh 2022’ to improve regulation & supervision

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board, which met in New Delhi, finalized a three- year roadmap to improve regulation and supervision, among other functions of the central bank. This medium-term strategy — named Utkarsh 2022 — is in line with the global central banks’ plan to strengthen the regulatory and supervisory mechanism, sources aware of the board meeting told The Hindu. “It is a three-year road map for medium-term objective to be achieved for improving regulation, supervision of the central bank,” said a source.

10. Six Sigma Healthcare proposed to set up Rs 750 crore project in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand would soon have a High Altitude institute of mountain medicine, training and research center. Once completed, the state of the art institute dealing with health issues related with high altitudes would be first of its kind in Asia. Six Sigma health care, a company which at present is operating hospitals in Kedarnath, Tungnath and Madmaheshwar has proposed to set up the mega Rs 750 cr project in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. On Saturday, a delegation of the Six Sigma health met the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at his residence.

11. Toran Yadav, a para-athlete wins 3 medals at 4th World Wealth Yoga Championship 2019

Toran, a para-athlete from Khatti village in Chhattisgarh, who represented India at 4th World Wealth Yoga Festival and Championship has won 3 silver medals.  He clinched two silver medals in the rhythmic pair and artistic pair and a bronze medal in athletic yoga. The 19-year-old started yoga at the age of 9 and soon he was selected to represent India. Yadav never felt like that he is specially abled and always had the will to do something for the country. When asked Toran said, “I feel very proud to have represented India. I want to do something in the field of Yoga in the future.” Para-athlete Toran Yadav from Chhattisgarh has won 3 silver medals at 4th World Wealth Yoga Festival and Championship in Europe.

12. DRDO conducted 3 tests of Nag Missile in a day in Pokhran, Rajasthan

Moving closer toward the induction of the Nag anti-tank guided missiles into the Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sunday carried out three successful test firings of the missiles in the Pokhran firing ranges. "The missiles were test-fired during both day and night on Sunday during the trials. All three tests were successful," DRDO officials said. Government sources said the missile is in the final stages of being inducted into the Army which will use it by mounting them on the modified armoured vehicles.
