Sixth Reunion of the Corps of Army Air Defence celebrated

The 6th Reunion of the Corps of Army Air Defence (AAD) was celebrated on 20 September- 21 September 2019 at Army AD College, Gopalpur, Odisha. The reunion aimed to provide a platform for the interaction among the serving and retired Army Air Defence gunners to renew their ties. In the occasion, they paid tributes to the martyred comrades and honoured the Veer Naries.


The gallantry award winners and Veer Naris were felicitated. The transformation of Army Air Defence equipment profile was displayed. The occasion also included a spectacular display of Army Air Defence history and heritage, Light and Sound Show at Army Air Defence Museum and Army Air Defence Band symphony were also organized in the reunion.

Corps of Army Air Defence:

The Corps of Army Air Defence is a young arm which was bifurcated from the Regiment of Artillery.

Roles:

The Army Air Defence is responsible to preserve strategic assets and key assets in the Tactical Battle Area of the nation. It assumes great significance in view of the emerging air threat. AAD will play a defining role in future conflicts. It has taken a lead to technologically sophisticated weapons and equipment besides selective upgradation of the existing equipment. The AAD Corps is also responsible for the protection of Indian air space from enemy aircraft and missiles, especially below 5,000 feet.
