Ministry of Road Transport linked vehicle data with VAHAN database
Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has restated the necessity to link all the vehicle data with VAHAN database. The move aims to avoid harassment and inconvenience to citizens. The Ministry is taking efforts to announce the information to citizens in electronic form also in m-Parivahan and e-Challan platforms for their convenience.

- The Ministry stresses to adopt the step urgently after the operationalization of certain provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019.
- It has also provided revised provisions for penalties for driving vehicle violating air pollution standards etc.
- The move comes after the directions provided by the Supreme Court. The Ministry had issued a notification to amend the rule 115 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 to link PUC certificate with VAHAN database.
- The Ministry has also guided the States and Union Territories to ensure that all PUC centres upload emission test data electronically to VAHAN database as per guidelines issued in compliance with Supreme Court directions.
