Centre introduced Assistance for Deep Sea Fishing for the fishermen in Tamil Nadu

The Centre has introduced a new scheme named Assistance for Deep Sea Fishing for Tamil Nadu fishermen. The announcement was made by the Union Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Giriraj Singh.


For the scheme, the Centre has allocated Rs.300 crore to the Tamil Nadu government. The scheme is introduced specifically to benefit four districts in Palk Bay area, including Ramanathapuram district. Centre is also concerned and taking action regarding the health facilities for the fishermen.

Aim:

The aim of the scheme was is to make a Blue Revolution. The scheme will provide resource-specific deep-sea fishing vessels to the traditional fishermen of the Tamil Nadu state.

Note: Blue revolution:

Blue revolution refers to the emergence of aquaculture as an important and highly productive agricultural activity. Blue Revolution is an explosion in aquaculture it refers to all forms of active culturing of aquatic animals and plants, occurring in marine, brackish, or freshwaters.
