1. India, Saudi Arabia held discussions on bilateral hydrocarbon cooperation
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today held discussions with Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia Khalid Al-Falih to further enhance bilateral hydrocarbon cooperation. Both the Ministers discussed further enhancing India-Saudi Arabia hydrocarbon cooperation to become a strong pillar of the existing overall strategic partnership between the two countries. An official release said, during the meeting Minister Al-Falih emphasized the need for capitalizing on the growing momentum in bilateral hydrocarbon cooperation.
2. Western Railways first printing press heritage gallery opened at Mahalaxmi, Mumbai
The Western Railway (WR) has thrown open to public the first printing press heritage gallery of the Indian Railways at Mahalaxmi here. "Western Railway has opened the first of its kind printing press heritage gallery at Mahalaxmi in Mumbai. This unique heritage gallery was inaugurated by V P Pathak, member (Materials Management) of the Railway Board during his recent visit to Mumbai," a statement issued by Ravinder Bhakar, chief public relations officer of the WR said on Wednesday.
3. Approval given to national permit scheme for inter-state travel for bus operators
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari yesterday said, the government has approved the national permit scheme for inter-state travel for bus operators. The move is likely to increase the state revenue by 3-4 per cent as the money will be directly credited to the states in a proportionate manner. Minister was attending the India International Bus and Car show, Prawaas 2019 in Mumbai. The minister announced that the government will soon provide the online facility of obtaining a permit for the electric vehicles including buses, car taxis, autos and bike taxis.
4. 23 self-styled and unrecognized universities announced by the University Grants Commission
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a list of 23 "self-styled, unrecognised" universities, eight of which are in Uttar Pradesh. The higher education regulator has warned students against taking admission in these institutions. "Students and public at large are hereby informed that at present 23 self-styled, unrecognised institutions are functioning in various parts of the country in contravention of the UGC Act," UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain said.

Used car buying and selling platform Cars24 has announced that it has procured an NBFC License from RBI and will be venturing into the consumer lending business. It will do so through the formation of a separate entity - Cars24 Financial Services Pvt. Ltd under the Cars24 group. The company will be launching its services in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore in August 2019 and will scale up to the other cities gradually. While the customers will be eligible for credit based on the car value they are buying, channel partners will be eligible to credit of up to Rs 1 crore depending upon their requirement. For consumers, the average ticket size of a loan would be Rs 2.5-3 lakh.

A Chinese startup successfully launched the country's first commercial rocket capable of carrying satellites into orbit Thursday, as the space race between China and the US heats up. Beijing-based Interstellar Glory Space Technology—also known as iSpace—said it launched two satellites into orbit around 1:00 pm Beijing time (0500 GMT) from Jiuquan, a state launch facility in the Gobi desert. The three-year-old company is one of dozens of Chinese rivals jostling for a slice of the global space industry, estimated to be worth about $1 trillion by 2040 according to Morgan Stanley.
