1. Central Government granted the approval to set up of e-Foreigner Tribunal (e-FT) in Assam

The central government is also in the process of giving its approval to the state government's proposal to set up e-Foreigners Tribunals for those who were declared illegal immigrants. The Centre will help the Assam government in setting up 1,000 foreigners tribunals by July 31 when the final list of National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be published, officials said Sunday. Those left out in the final NRC can challenge their exclusion in these tribunals to be set up across Assam.

3. DGT partnered with Cisco & Accenture for skilling program

Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, today joined hands with two big private sector companies-Cisco and Accenture, to skill the youth for the digital economy, through its Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Along with the implementation partner Quest Alliance, this program will equip students enrolled in ITIs across India with skills for the digital economy over the next two years.

In an effort to curb pollution of oceans, the Canadian government on Monday announced that it will ban single-use plastics as early as 2021. Speaking to reporters, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the products expected to be banned include cotton swabs, cutlery, plates, straws, bags and drink stirrers. The goal is "zero plastic waste (from) coast to coast" that will be in effect "as early as 2021," Anadolu News Agency quoted him as saying.

6. As per RBI, Bank frauds worth Rs. 2.05 lakh crore reported in the last 11 years

The data assumes significance as banks are grappling with high-profile fraud cases involving Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya among others. A total of 5,916 such cases were reported by banks in 2017-18 involving ₹41,167.03 crore, RBI said. Over 6,800 cases of bank fraud involving an unprecedented ₹71,500 crore have been reported in 2018-19, the Reserve Bank of India has said.

7. RBI asked banks to grout ATMs to a wall, pillar, or floor in order to increase security

The Reserve Bank on Friday asked banks to ensure their ATMs are grouted to a wall, pillar, or floor by September-end, except those installed in high secured premises such as airports, to enhance the security of the cash vending machines. In 2016, the RBI had set up a Committee on Currency Movement (CCM) to review the entire gamut of security of treasure in transit. Based on the recommendations of the panel, the central bank has now issued instructions aimed at mitigating risks in ATM operations and enhancing security.

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has bagged a cs 1,187.82 crores for supply of – Varunastra – to the Indian Navy. NP Diwakar, Director (Technical), BDL and Nidhi Chhibber, Joint Secretary & Acquisition Manager (Maritime & Systems), Ministry of Defence, Govt of India in New Delhi, inked the contract. The execution of the contract will be over the next 42 months. The weapon will be manufactured at BDL Visakhapatnam Unit under collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

13. An 8-year old Indian girl honored in UAE’s waste recycling campaign


An eight-year-old Indian-origin student in Dubai has collected nearly 15,000 kg of paper waste in the Gulf emirate as part of a nationwide recycling campaign, according to a media report. Nia Tony has been honored for her efforts in keeping the environment clean by collecting the paper waste, the Khaleej Times reported. "I was campaigning around my area to collect paper so that it can be recycled. Every week, I would go out to collect newspapers, magazines, and other paper that people were throwing away or didn't want to keep," she said.

14. National Geographic Society Installed World’s Highest Operating Weather Stations on Mount Everest

Climate scientists have created a history by installing the world's highest operating weather station at Mount Everest's Death Zone, including five other automated stations on other parts of the mountain, reported The National Geographic. Tom Matthews and Baker Perry, along with a crew of engineers, stood on the Mount Everest's flank at 27,650 feet (8,430 meters) and erected seven-foot- the building of a weather station that can withstand extreme winds and cold weather.

ISRO, in one of its most ambitious projects, is planning to launch its own space station by 2030. The announcement was made by ISRO Chairman K Sivan on June 13, 2019. The project will enable ISRO to send more astronauts to space. The ISRO Chairman clarified that India will not join the International Space Station (ISS) but instead build its own. The full details of the mission will be revealed after the successful completion of India’s first manned space mission – Gaganyaan.
