1. Central Government approved to set up DSRA
With the aim of enhancing the capabilities of the armed forces to fight wars in space, the government has approved the setting up of a new agency which will develop sophisticated weapon systems and technologies for the purpose. "The Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cleared the setting up of this new agency called the Defence Space Research Agency (DSRA) which has been entrusted with the task of creating space warfare weapon systems and technologies," sources in the Defence Ministry told ANI.
2. Central India got its First Sikh Museum in Raipur, Chhattisgarh
A museum exhibiting Sikh culture and tradition has opened in the heart of the state's capital city Ranchi. The museum, Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sikh Museum, located at Gurudwara Gurusingh Sabha in Guru Nanak Nagar was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel on the 'Shahidi Divas' of Sikh's Guru Arjun Dev on June 7. "I feel fortunate that I got a chance to bow before Guru Granth Sahib on the martyrdom day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs.
3. Japan will invest Rs 13,000 crore in North-East in infrastructure projects
Japan will invest Rs 13,000 crore in several ongoing as well as new infrastructure projects in the northeast region, including a water supply scheme in Assam and a network connectivity improvement initiative in Meghalaya, the DoNER Ministry said Wednesday. Some of the important projects in which Japan will collaborate include the Guwahati water supply project, Guwahati sewage project, the northeast road network connectivity improvement project spread over Assam and Meghalaya and northeast network connectivity improvement project in Meghalaya.
4. ‘E-Governance Initiatives for ST Welfare Schemes’ launched by Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs
Shri Arjun Munda, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs launched the “e-governance initiatives for ST Welfare schemes” at a function organized by Ministry of Tribal Affairs here today. Smt. Renuka Singh Saruta, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Ms. AnusuiyaUikey, Vice Chairperson, NCST, Shri Ramesh Chand Meena, Chairperson, TRIFED and Shri Deepak Khandekar, Secretary, Minister of Tribal Affairs were present. 5. El Salvador Legislative Assembly Declares “Forests as Living Entities”
El Salvador has, in a historic move, recognized forests as living entities. Its citizens will now be required to preserve forests. El Salvador has lost about 85 percent of its native forests since the 1960s, while Earth has lost about 80 percent of its native forests. The pronouncement was made on World Environment Day, which is celebrated on June 5 every year, by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador.
6. India designated as guest country at Guadalajara International Book Fair in Mexico
India has been designated as the Guest of Honour at the 33rd Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (Guadalajara International Book Fair), in Mexico, the National Book Trust announced on Monday. The book fair, to be organized from November 30 - December 8, will be "the largest book fair in the Spanish speaking world", the nodal agency, under the Ministry of HRD, said in a statement.

IDBI Bank Ltd. and Max Bupa, a standalone health insurer (SAHI), signed a Bancassurance corporate agency agreement on June 1, 2019. It is the first time that IDBI Bank has been on-boarded as a corporate agent for a SAHI partner under open architecture. As part of the tie-up, Max Bupa will offer its comprehensive health insurance offerings to the diverse customer base of IDBI Bank Ltd. across the country. Through this alliance, Max Bupa will offer a wide range of health insurance products and digital first propositions, tailored for the bank's 20 million customers spread across its 1800 plus branches pan India.
8. A penalty of Rs.11.25 lakh imposed on ZipCash, Yes Bank by RBI
The Reserve Bank of India said Tuesday that it has imposed a penalty on two prepaid payment instrument (PPI) issuers Yes Bank and ZipCash Card Services for non-compliance with regulatory norms. A penalty of Rs 11.25 lakh each has been imposed on the two PPI issuers, according to an RBI release. The penalty was imposed on the two entities through speaking orders dated April 22, 2019, according to the release.
9. SEBI released a discussion paper for informant mechanism related to insider trading
Sebi says genuine whistleblowers could get the monetary reward of ₹1 crore as well as amnesty from regulatory action. The proposed policy would be implemented by amending Sebi (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations, 2015. Sebi on Monday proposed an informant mechanism to blow the whistle on insider trading cases, wherein genuine whistleblowers could get the monetary reward of ₹1 crore as well as amnesty from regulatory action.

The US embassy has launched a mobile application that gives comprehensive and latest information about studying in the United States. It is aimed at students who may not be geographically near an EducationUSA center in India that helps students with information about studying in the country.
11. Jemimah Rodrigues becomes the third player from India to feature in Kia Super League
India's young women's cricket star Jemimah Rodrigues will become the third player from the country after Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur to feature in the T20 competition in England. Jemimah Rodrigues will play for Yorkshire Diamonds in Women's Super League. Jemimah has represented India in 10 ODIs and 25 T20Is so far. KSL, featuring 6 teams, will start from August 6.
