1. I&B Ministry instituted AYDMS to be given to commemorate International Yoga Day

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Prakash Javadekar has said the practice and propagation of Yoga has led to “Healthy Life, Healthy Living, Wellness  and Prevention of Disease”  Yoga is one of  India’s gifts to the world and has become the mantra of New India Under the leadership of Prime Minister,  Shri Narendra Modi, Yoga has been universally acknowledged  by the United Nations and is now practiced globally around  200 countries on 21st June every year.

2. 15th Finance Commission held a meeting with representatives of ADCs of Meghalaya

The 15th Finance Commission headed by its Chairman, Shri N.K. Singh as part of its visit to the State of Meghalaya today held a meeting with the representatives of the Autonomous Development Councils of Meghalaya. The Commission was informed that: There are 3 Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in Meghalaya namely the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council. Except for a small part of the area under the Shillong Municipality, the entire state is covered by the District Councils. Term of the District Councils is for five years from the date of their constitution. Last elections to the ADCs were held in February 2014.

3. India’s first Dinosaur Museum inaugurated in Gujarat

India's first Dinosaur Museum cum Park was inaugurated in Gujarat's Mahisagar district and is set to give visitors the true Jurassic Park feel. The museum, which was inaugurated on Saturday by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at Raiyoli near Balasinor, will exhibit remains of various dinosaurs and fossil records. This dinosaur museum was equipped with modern technology like 3D projection, virtual reality presentations, interactive kiosks, and life-size dinosaur replicas.

4. G20 Ministerial Meeting held in Japan

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry & Railways, Piyush Goyal, is leading the Indian delegation for the G20 Ministerial meeting on Trade and Digital Economy being held on 8th – 9th June 2019 in Tsukuba city, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The Indian Commerce Minister will discuss developments in the global trade situation, WTO matters, and digital trade. He will also hold dialogue with other participating Trade Ministers on current international trade and investments. For the first time Ministers of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Commerce will participate in a joint session on Digital Economy at the G20Ministerial Meeting

5. As per UNICEF, 1 in every 5 boys married off before they turn 15

The UNICEF has, after its first-ever in-depth analysis of child grooms, stated that an estimated 115 million boys and men around the world were married as children, out of which 1 in 5 children (23 million) was married off before attaining the age of 15. The study, which was carried out using data compiled from 82 countries, revealed that child marriage among boys is prevalent across a range of countries around the world, spanning sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, and East Asia and the Pacific.

6. ‘National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031’ adopted by the Cabinet of UAE

The UAE Cabinet on Sunday adopted the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031 during its meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. One of the most important initiatives is the development of the first 'National Wellbeing Observatory' to support the policymaking process. It will monitor a number of indicators of wellbeing in the UAE, submit regular reports to the UAE Cabinet, propose training programs for government employees, and launch of the Academy of Wellbeing future generations, in addition to the formation of a National Wellbeing Council to manage and coordinate the national strategy.

7. Paytm Payments Bank ahead of major banks in digital transaction target with 501.16 crore digital transactions 

In FY 2018-19, the payments bank surpassed the target of 354 crore transactions and recorded 393 crore digital transfers. Only five other banks have received a target of more than 100 crore transactions, which include HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank and Union Bank of India. Paytm Payments Bank has received a target of 501.16 crore digital transactions for the financial year 2019-20 from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), higher than the targets set for major banks including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Punjab National Bank.

8. State Bank of India to introduce repo-linked home loan product from July 1

Bank says it'll pass on the 25 bps repo rate cut to some cash credit borrowers. On Thursday, RBI slashed repo rate by 25 bps to 5.75%. Country's largest public lender State Bank of India announced the introduction of repo rate linked home loans from 1 July. The bank said it will pass on the 25 bps repo rate cut, announced by the Reserve Bank of India yesterday, to some cash credit borrowers.

9. Foreign Exchange Reserves of India increased by $1.8 billion to $421.8 billion


The country's foreign exchange reserves increased by $1.875 billion to $421.867 billion in the week to May 31, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed Friday. In the previous week, the reserves had risen by $1.99 billion to $419.99 billion. In the reporting week, foreign currency assets, which is a major component of the overall reserves, rose by $1.946 billion to $394.134 billion.

Swedish teenage activist Greta Thunberg and the millions of school students she inspired to skip school to protest for climate action on Friday won a global human rights award. A growing movement of young protesters demanding action on climate change - inspired by 16-year-old Thunberg who started a weekly vigil outside Sweden’s parliament last year - has spread to countries like Brazil, Uganda, and Australia.

11. Former U.S President Jimmy Carter to be honored with H. W. Bush Award for Statesmanship

Former President Jimmy Carter is being recognized for his contributions to relations between the U.S. And China. The George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S. China Relations says Carter will receive the inaugural George H. W. Bush Award for Statesmanship in U.S.-China Relations. The foundation said in a statement Thursday that the award goes to people who have made "profound contributions to the development of constructive and mutually beneficial relations" between the U.S and the People's Republic of China.

12. 2019 ITTF world Tour Hong Kong Open

The 2019 Hong Kong Open, a part of the 24th edition of ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) World Tour was held from 6th to 9th June 2019 at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong. The prize money of the tournament was USD 175000. It comprises Men’s single & doubles and Women’s singles & doubles. Hong Kong Open was first held in 2018.
