1. Two-day Yoga Mahotsava celebrated in New Delhi
A Two-day Yoga Mahotsava, a Curtain Raiser for International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2019 was inaugurated by the Vice-Chairman, NITI AYOG Shri Rajeev Kumar at New Delhi today. Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) under Ministry of AYUSH is organizing the Yoga Mahotsav-2019 to sensitize the masses for the celebration of IDY 2019. On this occasion Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha announced two Applications ‘Yoga Locator’ and ‘Bhuvan App’ related to International Day of Yoga 2019.
2. Elephanta Festival kicked off in Mumbai
The two-day Elephanta Festival organized by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) began on Saturday with a concert by folk and classical singer Kailash Kher at the Gateway of India. Mr. Kher said, “It is my honor to perform at a festival that celebrates our history. This is my tribute to Lord Shiva. I’m glad that I got the opportunity to perform in front of people from across the world.”
3. Indians ranked 2nd among Bleisure Travelers Globally as per the study of Booking.com
With 72 percent of Indian travelers extending their business trips in 2018, they have been ranked second among 'Bleisure' travelers across 31 countries, according to a study. Indians are second to Thai travelers (80 percent) and more than the global average (51 percent), a Booking.com study has revealed. Bleisure is a new trend which means business and leisure trips.
4. As per RBI, Bank frauds reached unprecedented Rs 71,500 crore in 2018-19
Over 6,800 cases of bank fraud involving an unprecedented Rs 71,500 crore have been reported in 2018-19, the Reserve Bank of India has said. A total of 5,916 such cases were reported by banks in 2017-18 involving Rs 41,167.03 crore, it said. As many as 6,801 cases of fraud were reported by scheduled commercial banks and select financial institutions involving an amount of Rs 71,542.93 crore in the last fiscal (increase of over 73 percent in the fraud amount), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in reply to an RTI query filed by this PTI journalist.
5. RBI initiated Financial Literacy Week from June 3-7, 2019
Financial Literacy Week 2019 will be observed from June 3-7 on the theme of "Farmers" and how they benefit by being a part of the formal banking system, said a press note from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Saturday. "Financial Literacy Week is an initiative of RBI to promote awareness on key topics every year through a focused campaign. Growth in agriculture is necessary for the overall economic growth and finance is an essential enabler for the same...RBI is actively involved in formulating policies that enhance the flow of credit to the farming community," read the press release.
6. Prices of SGBs for 2019-20 fixed at Rs 3,196 per gram
The government has fixed the price at Rs 3,196 per gram for the new series of sovereign gold bonds (SGBs) opening Monday. The Centre in consultation with the RBI has decided to allow a discount of Rs 50 per gram from the issue price to those investors who apply online and the payment is made through digital mode, the central bank said in a statement.

9. Ex-President Pratibha Patil awarded Mexico’s highest civilian award
Former Indian President Pratibha Patil has been conferred the "Orden Mexicana del Aguila Azteca" (Order of the Aztec Eagle) - the highest civilian award of Mexico given to foreigners on Saturday. The Ambassador of Mexico to India, Melba Pria, conferred the award on Patil - who created history as this country's first woman President (2007-2012), at a special ceremony held in the MCCIA Bhavan, Pune.
10. Indian Navy deployed anti-piracy patrol
In an expansion of its Mission Based Deployments (MBD) in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), the Navy deployed its P-8I long-range maritime surveillance aircraft for anti-piracy sorties from Salalah in Oman to patrol the Gulf of Aden. “Long-range maritime reconnaissance Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft P-8I undertakes anti-piracy patrol sorties from Salalah in the Gulf of Aden and other piracy prone areas in keeping with our MBD philosophy, to keep IOR safe and secure for all,” Navy spokesperson Captain D.K. Sharma said in a tweet on Saturday.
11. Army commissioned air quality monitor at Fort William as a part of ‘Go Green’ initiative
As part of it's countrywide 'Go Green' initiative, the Army commissioned a "Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System (CAAQMS)" at Fort William Military Station here on Monday, a Defence official said. Lt Gen M M Naravane, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, commissioned the system, which monitors air pollution on a real time basis.

13. World Bicycle Day observed on June 3
United Nations has assigned 3 June as the World Bicycle Day. It is designated as an official United Nations day to spread consciousness about the benefits of using the bicycle in order to promote health, a better environment, and sustainable development by bringing people together for a common cause. The declaration for observing 3 June as a designated World Bicycle Day holiday was passed on 12 April 2018 after an agreement by 193 members of The United Nations General Assembly. Therefore, 3 June 2018 was the very first year where this holiday was observed globally. The first year of celebration observing the World Bicycle Day saw a gathering of international leaders at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
